As one of the leading experts in development and analysis of satellite altimetry and space gravimetry observations, Benoit has spent the last 10 years showing how those observations can be used to tackle fundamental questions about climate science.

Benoit and his team have successfully demonstrated that space geodetic measurements from satellite altimetry and gravimetry missions can be used to quantify oceanic components of the climate water-energy cycle with unprecedented precision. This opens up new opportunities to use sea level and geodetic remote sensing to provide a new constraint on the Earth’s radiation budget and climate sensitivity.
