Nominee(s) must fulfil all of the following Eligibility Criteria to participate in the EO Excellence Award.

Eligible

  • Yourself
  • Early Career Stage – Early career researchers/scientists are defined as those who are within 10 years of earning their PhD (or highest degree) and no more than 20 years since obtaining their first degree, excluding any periods of maternity leave.
  • The focus should be on the use of data from European satellites in the field of science and applications (innovative technology or engineering for Earth observation is not considered part of this award).
  • Residency – ESA Member States or Associate Members
  • The Nominee must have a number of publications in specialised journals and sufficient experience.
  • Consent of nomination given.

  • Family member(s) of Nominator
  • ESA Staff, Contractors, and Council members – in service or 1 year after the end of service
  • Member of EO Excellence Award Selection Committee
  • Former EO Excellence Award winner
  • Any individual who is part of a nominated Team on the same scientific topic or achievement

Terms and Conditions

Nominee(s) must fulfil all of the following Eligibility Criteria to participate in the EO Excellence Award.

Eligible

  • You and your team
  • Early Career Stage – Early career researchers/scientists are defined as those who are within 10 years of earning their PhD (or highest degree) and no more than 20 years since obtaining their first degree, excluding any periods of maternity leave.
  • The majority of the team members must meet the early career criteria, while the Team lead should respect entirely the condition.
  • The focus should be on the use of data from European satellites in the field of science and applications (innovative technology or engineering for Earth observation is not considered part of this award).
  • Residency of more than Half of the Team Members – ESA Member States or Associate Members.
  • Consent of nomination given.
  • All team members must have worked on the same project, taken into account in the Nomination and must fulfil the eligibility conditions and not fall under any exclusion set forth in the Terms and Conditions.
  • The team should reflect diversity in its composition. This includes but is not limited to diversity in backgrounds, skills, experiences, gender and perspectives.
  • The Nominees must have a number of publications in specialised journals and sufficient experience.

  • Family member(s) of Nominator
  • ESA Staff, and Contractors, or being within 1 year after leaving ESA.
  • Member of EO Excellence Award Selection Committee
  • Former EO Excellence Award winner
  • Any individual who is part of a nominated Team on the same scientific topic or achievement
